Step 1: Print, complete, and mail a Program File Request form, found by clicking on "request a file" in the top navigation bar above. File requests must be submitted in writing to the GAL Program Administrator for review. Should you be unable to complete this request in writing, please contact our office and a staff member will assist you. Mail all Program File Request forms to the address below:

Step 2: Upon receipt of the request, the GAL Deputy will make an initial assessment to determine if the file requested can be granted without written, notarized client consent. If it is determined the request requires written, notarized client consent, and consent was not attached, the request will be returned to the requester and denied. No further action will be taken.

Step 3: At this time, the GAL Deputy will also determine if the party requesting the file has authority to access the file. If it is determined that the requester does not have authority to access the file, the request will be returned to the requester and denied. No further action will be taken.

Step 4: Should the request not require written, notarized client consent, access to the file will be granted in accordance with the Wyoming GAL Program Policy Collection, Policy N: Retention of FilesIndividuals should receive copies of the file, or access to the file at the GAL Program Administrative Office within one week.
