Eydie Trautwein is a ranch girl, born and raised in Wheatland, Wyoming. She is the former Protective Services Division Administrator for the Wyoming Department of Family Services and previously served as the Inter-Agency Coordinator with the Department of Health, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Division. Ms. Trautwein earned both a Bachelor’s Degree and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Wyoming. 

Prior to joining state government, she practiced law in Wheatland with Sherard, Sherard, Artery and Johnson and Cheyenne with Hageman and Brighton, P.C. While in private practice, she maintained a part-time public defender contract in the Eighth Judicial District. During this time, she also represented parents and children in abuse and neglect, CHINS and delinquency cases.

Eydie married a fellow from Wheatland and has two young children. She has lived in Cheyenne since 2005. She enjoys spending time in Wheatland, traveling, drawing, snowboarding and being a mom. 

Eydie (formerly Eydie Johnson), fancies herself as somewhat of an expert on mental health and substance abuse resources, Medicaid, DFS policies, drug courts, and abandonment of water rights (see Joe Johnson Co. v. Wyoming State Bd. of Control, 857 P.2d 312 (Wyo. 1993). 

Eydie is currently the District Six Supervising Staff Attorney and covers cases in Wheatland and Cheyenne. Additionally, Eydie assists with GAL Program quality assurance related functions.
