The Agency maintains and archives all records from appointed proceedings. These files are kept for 19 years and then destroyed.
The Wyoming Office of Guardian ad Litem, not the individually assigned attorney, is the owner of all Wyoming GAL files. The Agency has the authority to direct proper maintenance and retention of files.
All Agency client-files are confidential and are not public record.
Wyoming Office of Guardian ad Litem client-files can be requested by the client, a party to the case, or an attorney retained by the client or previously appointed to the case in writing. Not all requests will be accepted.
