High-quality Legal Representation

Wyoming Office of Guardian ad Litem defines high-quality legal representation as a commitment to better outcomes for children and families through training, peer advocacy, and youth engagement, and by zealously advocating for their client through meeting with their client’s and their caregivers, conducting an independent investigation, and working cooperatively with juvenile court stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.

Attorneys

Our attorney GALs are well-trained, skilled litigators who have specialized knowledge of child welfare and juvenile law. Wyoming Office of Guardian ad Litem attorney GALs are a mixture of state employees, solo practitioners, or small-business owners who contract with the agency.

Case Consultants

Wyoming Office of Guardian ad Litem offers attorney GALs the option to work or consult with a Case Consultant (CC) who contracts directly with the agency. CCs are professionals who work with the attorney GAL as part of the child’s legal team to contribute expertise and experience in social work, counseling, child development, education, and other fields. Their expertise enhances the attorney GAL’s independent investigation and legal positions. Use of CCs can expedite time to permanency and case resolution, increase reunification, improve preservation of family connections, and increase adoption. The ABA, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Children’s Bureau, and NACC recognize the importance of this interdisciplinary team approach.
